This amp is incredibly interactive, and not in your typical 'treble, mid, bass' kinda way. It is pretty clear that the controls on this amp were created by musicians, for musicians, and in the case of 3 Monkeys this statement couldn't be more accurate. The way in which the bass and treble controls work together is very simple and musical. The lift switch is a nice touch too--it gives you a little volume boost and high-end clarity for when you need that extra push to put you out in front. Perhaps the most unique feature of this amp, however, is the six-position rotary switch labeled 'voice'. As you move through each position, you find that every stop has a distinct eq and gain setting that provide you with an enormous palette of colors to play with. You'll never want to stop playing with this Monkey!

The Orangutan is a dynamic four 6V6 amp with a unique six position rotary VOICE switch.

The VOICE switch changes both the gain structure and the tone as you rotate it clockwise. The VOLUME control interacts with the VOICE switch to produce shimmering cleans and smooth overdriven tones. The BASS is more like a global low frequency control, while the TREBLE acts as a cut. The LIFT switch disables the BASS control to provide boost and clarity. ROOM is our focused reverb, no surf wash here. While this amp is a no gain monster, it is rooted in the classic tones of 70s rock. Not trying to specifically mimic any one amp the Orangutan has it’s own distinctive voice, suited to both stage and studio.
