What We Think

I love getting great used pieces in, and this practically new Gibson Southern Jumbo is dripping with vintage vibe and is everything you want in an acoustic guitar. The mahogany back and sides churn out mellow, warm tone with impeccable clarity in all registers, with just the slightest tinge of darkness to it. The deep dark burst is stately and suggests authority, giving a vibe to this guitar that manifests itself in whatever you play on this guitar. Maybe it's true: "Only a Gibson is good enough."

Manufacturer's Description from Gibson Guitars

A large-bodied flat-top, this distinctive workhorse is beloved for its ability to belt out a country rhythm or an acoustic blues lead, while retaining an understated elegance. Going for as much as $10,000 on the vintage market, when you can find them, original examples are among the most prized pre-war flat-tops. The traditional Southern Jumbo recreates the best of this legendary model in an affordable instrument available to players and collectors today. Constructed by the acclaimed luthiers of Gibson’s acoustic facility in Bozeman, Montana, the traditional Southern Jumbo is one of the best-kept secrets in the Gibson acoustic line. Available for a limited time.

Each guitar includes a black hardshell case with plush-lined interior, owner's manual, Gibson's Gold Warranty and Gibson's 24/7/365 Customer Service.

About Manufacturer

Today's Gibson electric guitars represent the history as well as the future of the electric guitar. The models whose designs have become classics-the ES-175, ES-335, Flying V, Explorer, Firebird, SGs and Les Pauls-are a testament to Gibson's wide appeal, spanning more than four decades of music styles. Gibson's close relationship with musicians is manifest in endorsement models from King, Atkins and jazz greats Howard Roberts and Herb Ellis, plus new Les Pauls made to the personal specifications of rock stars Jimmy Page and Joe Perry. In 1994, Gibson's Centennial year, the new Nighthawk model won an industry award for design, setting the stage for a second hundred years of Gibson quality and innovation.
