The Black Lion Audio Sparrow mkII A/D (Analog-to-Digital) converter is a two-channel, half-rack unit designed for high-fidelity audio conversion. It is noted for its high-quality internal clocking and modular design, which allows for future circuitry upgrades.

Conversion Quality: Supports sampling rates from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz at 24-bit resolution.
Clocking: Features a low-jitter, proprietary master clock (the 220/270SP) designed for rich harmonic content.
Inputs/Outputs:
Analog: Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS inputs.
Digital: AES, coaxial S/PDIF, and optical S/PDIF outputs.
Sync: BNC word clock input and output for master or slave synchronization.

Model Variations

The Sparrow mkII was released in three distinct tiers, differentiated by their internal architecture and sonic characteristics:

White Sparrow (Flagship): Uses two converters in a parallel-balanced circuit to boost dynamic range (up to 122dB). It features the most advanced clocking and power filtration in the line.

Red Sparrow: Based on the circuitry of the pro-level FM192. It offers a dynamic range of 120dB and is praised for its "euphonic" and "musical" frequency response.

Black Sparrow: The entry-level version, designed to outperform standard interface converters while remaining affordable.
