What We Think

"I've been absolutely spoiled to be working with this compressor on a singer-songwriter record the last month. It's one of those pieces that gives you an audible benefit of color to your sound. Just by tickling the meter and doing barely any gain reduction, this thing really made a voice bloom and come out with some more depth through the monitors. I'm anxious to start mixing and print drums through it and give it a permanent home on the mix bus"

-Marc Kuzio, Pro Audio Specialist

We've got one in our studio already, and it's proving to be quite a workhorse for vocals and bass guitars.  We'll have more information available soon, as well as some great videos. If you have any questions in the meantime, give us a call or shoot us an email and we'd be happy to talk more with you about the ADL 1700.

Vocal Compressor Shootout: Vintage UA 175-B vs. ADL 1700

The ADL 1700 is all tube design mu compressor with incredible flexibility. Its warmth and clarity makes it an excellent addition to any pro or home studio. The 1700 was modeled after the vintage UA 175 and 176 compressors, so we thought the best way to showcase this workhorse compressor was to compare a new ADL 1700 with a vintage UA 175-B.  In this video, SoundPure Pro Audio Expert, Allen Palmer, finishes our shootout series on the 1700, with Vocals. The ADL 1700 is available for SoundPure's Try Before You Buy program, so if you want to hear it in your studio with your gear, shoot us an email at If you like what you hear, check out this gear at or give us a call anytime at 919.682.5552. Manufacturer's Description from ADL

The ADL 1700 Liquid Mu Peak Limiter is often referred to as the little brother of the Fairchild 670. The 1700 employs an all discrete tube design modeled after and a cross between the vintage UA 175-B and 177 limiter except we enhanced some features for added flexibility. Unlike an opto limiter, the 1700 uniquely reduces the Mu or gain as the input signal is increased.
Versatility is a hallmark of Anthony DeMaria's latest creation. The ADL 1700 Liquid MU Peak Compressor/Limiter has myriad practical applications in the recording studio, including tracking and mixing vocals and instruments, plus sweetening the stereo buss. It is also a highly useful tool for live concert sound reinforcement, as well as film and broadcast mixing.
Handcrafted in the USA, the ADL 1700 features an all discrete tube design, transformer in/out, 90Hz high pass filter switch, bypass switch, heavy-duty chassis, and more.
