We fell in love with this Metro 6.5x14 Queensland Walnut ply snare drum right out of the box. The Kingswood veneer finished with a satin finish jumps out at you which is complemented by the black nickel hardware. Queensland Walnut is a hard and dense rainforest timber has proven to be an excellent tonewood for musical instruments. This Australian timber produces great tone, giving a clear top end frequency response with full bodied mid and bass. Through our testing, the hardness of the timber combined with 45-degree bearing edges provided a nice focus, sensitivity, and articulation throughout multiple tuning ranges. The ten tube lugs provide a nice and even stretch on the drum heads allowing you to find your ideal tuning with ease. This drum also has the upgraded Trick throw-off giving you added peace of mind that your snare sensitivity settings won’t change on you.

Queensland walnut is a large rainforest tree growing to a height of around 35 meters with a stem diameter of up to 1.8 meters. It is restricted to the coastal tablelands of North Queensland, between Innisfail and Atherton, where it is the dominant rainforest tree species.
