What We Think
The Sand Cymbals are a collaboration between Meinl and Benny Greb to create a unique sound for Benny. The Sand Cymbals are part of Meinl's Byzance Vintage series and were designed to Benny's specifications.
This matched set contains a pair of 14" Sand hats, a 20" Sand ride and an 18" Sand Thin Crash. Each cymbal goes through a sandblasting process creates a semi-matte finish that is similar to a patina. The tight lathing patterns give the cymbals a little focus while the selective hammering gives each a cymbal a bit of complexity. These are highly musical cymbals that complement each other as a set.
If you are looking for warmth and full-bodied sounds out of your cymbals but without the modern highs, the Meinl Sand Cymbals should be on your radar.
