What We Think

The body style that started it all for George Lowden!  The 'O' model has gone from a stepping stone to a well-established foundation of the Lowden name and here's the proof.  This guitar has everything you'd expect and want from George and his team!  It's just fantastic to see what a master Luthier can do with one of the most common tonewood combinations, Sitka spruce and Rosewood.  Unsurpassed clarity and resonance are the immediately recognizable qualities, but projection and note-to-note balance aren't far behind.  A guitar this responsive makes you feel like you're having a conversation with a world class listener--you give even the slightest indication as to tone, volume, vibrato, etc. and the guitar is right there giving it back.  As a fingerstylist, it's hard to think of a design from the last 50 years than can compete with what this model offers.  We can, however, expect a lot of competition between folks vying for this fantastic serial number--call us up today before someone else crosses the finish line to seize this prize of an instrument!

Manufacturer's Description from Lowden

The Original Series was the very first Lowden range from 1976, just as the ‘O’ model is George’s original Lowden body design. Although the medium sized ‘F’ and concert sized ‘S’ have been added to the range since then, the Lowden standard of passionate commitment to no-compromise was well and truly set.

Over the years, the 32 has become more sought after especially because of its full bodied and yet very clear defined tone. The Sitka spruce top help to balance the rosewood’s warm fullness. The O version is warm, full and clear, the F is the same but with a more focused projection making it ideal for flat-picking and fingerstyle. The S version has been a bit of a surprise in that it has a large body sound in a concert sized instrument!
