The LP Lap Top Conga replicates the warm, woody tones of conga drums, in an instrument that's actually made of wood with the added bonus take-anywhere portability.
The LP Lap Top Conga is essentially a shallow box measuring 11 1/2" wide, 19 1/2" long, and 3" deep. The box sits comfortably across a player's lap, while an attached strap goes under the legs or around the waist to secure it. The waist strap also allows the LP Lap Top Conga to be played in a standing position.
The unique acoustic feature of the LP Lap Top Conga is that it produces two distinctly different pitches, just as a pair of conga drums can do. This is achieved by the creation of two carefully dimensioned chambers within the select plywood shell. The shell itself provides a rich tonality and excellent projection.
Simple, lightweight, portable, and easy to play, the LP Lap Top Conga is sure to become a popular choice among percussion professionals and hobbyists alike.
Latin Percussion was founded in 1964 as the passion project of Martin Cohen, a young engineer living in New York City. Captivated by the Latin music he heard at New York’s jazz clubs, Martin set out to hand-craft his own percussive instruments like bongos and cowbells, delivering them to musicians all around the city. Since then, LP has been dedicated to producing only the highest quality percussion instruments by putting the needs of the performing musician above all others. From congas to cajons, timbales to tambourines, LP continues to meet the demands of modern percussionists across all styles of music.
