The concept of the Renown redesign was to give the series fresh visual appeal and enhance sonic performance, while preserving its classic Gretsch vibe and spirit. The Renown has been revered for its rock-solid craftsmanship and excellent sonic performance.
$339.00
The Gretsch Renown series brings the distinctive Great Gretsch sound at a lower price for working drummers while still retaining the classic Gretsch features. 30-degree bearing edges, the silver sealer interior, and the classic Gretsch lugs are shared classic features derived from the USA Custom line. The new Gretsch Renown drums bring a change from die-cast hoops to the '302' hoops. These hoops can be found on Gretsch's Brooklyn and Broadkaster series drums. Gretsch '302' hoops produce a similarly focused sound to Die-Cast hoops, but are lighter in weight and less rigid, allowing the drum to breathe a little more to achieve its maximum resonance. Complemented with new tom- suspension mounts, USA Remo heads, and easily adjustable T-Wing screws the Gretsch Renowns continue to improve and enhance what is already a tried and tested formula.
Gretsch still uses the proven and unique Renown formula that combines North American Rock Maple with a slightly softer maple species. Each drum is expertly completed with smooth 30-degree bearing edges, while heavy-duty Gretsch die-cast hoops and classic lugs crown each drum. This Gretsch-engineered shell/hoop combination produces explosive attack and power that is rich with warm, low-end timbre.
The updated round, two-toned badge features gleaming silver artwork embossed over a black nickel background.
For 135 years, the Gretsch Drum Company has produced classic American instruments that drummers the world over covet. The signature “great Gretsch sound” has been utilized by numerous classic and modern drummers alike; Max Roach, Tony Williams, Cindy Blackman, Taylor Hawkins, and Vinnie Colaiuta are just a few examples of master drummers that have sat behind Gretsch kits. Currently, Gretsch’s three lines of professional-grade drums (the Brooklyn, Broadkaster, and USA Custom) are built by a small team of dedicated craftsmen in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Gretsch also offers a number of affordable import lines that allow beginner and intermediate drummers to be a part of drum history and play behind a Gretsch set.
