This Gretsch USA Bronze snare drum features a 1mm smooth polished shell with no bead but a knurled center in its place. Gretsch used a rolled and seam-welded shell that offers a sensitive and articulate attack with a great backbeat for just about any groove. Whether it's brush work or bashing grooves, this bronze snare drum is sure to delight you with it's visual and sonic properties. Bronze is somewhere between brass and copper in terms of tonality so you'll get the dark dryness of the copper combined with brighter frequencies and definition of the brass. Greater note focus is achieved with a pair of chrome plated die-cast hoops and the 20 lug configuration gives you the widest tuning range possible. Add to that the Micro-Sensitive strainer and 42 strand snare wires and you are off to the races.
Offering a wide array of sonics- the USA Metal series cover all ends of the spectrum. All snares come standard with a choice of Lightning throw-off or Micro-Sensitive throw-off, die cast hoops, center knurl pattern, and snap-in key holder. Choose from 8 different metals to personalize your sound.
Sonically between a brass and copper shell, bronze is a very musical metal, as shown by its use in cymbal making for years. Bronze snares are somewhat darker than their brass counterparts, but still have a clear, defined high end and great stick articulation. The 1mm polished Bronze shell also comes with our Micro-Sensitive throw, 42-Strand snare wires, die cast hoops and a ‘Snap-In’ key holder.
For 135 years, the Gretsch Drum Company has produced classic American instruments that drummers the world over covet. The signature “great Gretsch sound” has been utilized by numerous classic and modern drummers alike; Max Roach, Tony Williams, Cindy Blackman, Taylor Hawkins, and Vinnie Colaiuta are just a few examples of master drummers that have sat behind Gretsch kits. Currently, Gretsch’s three lines of professional-grade drums (the Brooklyn, Broadkaster, and USA Custom) are built by a small team of dedicated craftsmen in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Gretsch also offers a number of affordable import lines that allow beginner and intermediate drummers to be a part of drum history and play behind a Gretsch set.
