The Goodsell 2/7 has a quiet but strong following among boutique amp enthusiasts for its incredible low wattage clean sounds. However where it really shines is the footswitchable crunch tone. This versatile amp is the perfect studio or bedroom amp for exploring the full range of those bright, punchy Fender tweed sounds in an incredibly compact size. This discontinued model will assuredly be your first choice for jamming out your blues, and at this used price it's almost impossible to pass up!
"The 2/7 (watts, triode/pentode) is a single ended EL84 amp with a 12AX7 driver tube. Usually there was a six-volt 9-pin rectifier (EZ81/6CA4) but a few used military surplus 6X5 octal rectifiers. There was a "crunch" switch that engaged a by-pass cap on the 12AX7 that could also be operated by a simple on/off foot switch, as long as the one on the panel was in the off position. WGS makes my speakers, and the stock one in that amp should resemble a Jensen C12Q. Since it is single ended (SE, one output tube) it doesn't really sound like any of my other models, but the goal was to offer a light, low-power amp for the bedroom player. I has about the same power as a Champ, but with the 12" speaker you could swap something more efficient into it for much greater volume and clean headroom. I would recommend the WGS Reaper for that purpose."
