What We Think

Condition: Used, Excellent

Tim Ristau at Superfine Ampworks did some incredible work on this amp to make it the best example of a Vintage Bassman we've ever heard! To start, he cleaned this beauty from top to bottom! The faceplate, knobs, controls, jacks, mechanical ground points, tube socket contacts and tube pins all received a touch up, and the tolex has been cleaned and reglued with era correct hide glue.

Every filter cap was replaced with high quality F&T caps, as well as the electrolytic bypass and bias caps! The socket contacts have been re-tensioned, a power tube octal socket was replaced, and a grounded AC cord was installed.

Four critical resistors were swapped for carbon-film types to reduce the noise floor while maintaining the classic "Rock Amp" vibe of the AB165 circuit. A Mod was applied to the "Deep" switch to eliminate a loud popping sound when engaging the deep circuit.
