Sound Pure's Take

The DW Exotic Series snare drums have been an affordable option for drummers that are looking for an exquisite looking and sounding drum in one nice package. In the medium tuning range, we found this snare to have plenty of body and bite. At the low end of the range, this drum has the fat and sag of a '70s-era drum sound, but with a modern polish. In the high tuning range, the drum offers great crack and projection without sacrificing body. With the 3-position butt plate, players are able to dial in the right snare setting with the flip of a switch, instead of painstakingly having to adjust the dial - a feature we really love.

The Bubinga's visually striking appearance is finished with a natural gloss helping accentuate the depth of grain and perfectly complements the chrome hardware. This snare has one of DW's newest shell offerings which designed to give drummers the best of both worlds, the warmth of vintage drums and the resonance and projection of modern drums. And if that wasn't enough, this special drum was hand-signed by John Good.
