Meet Beowulf, who is a 2008 Dunnett Classic Titanium snare drum. We rarely see Dunnett drums used, let alone titanium, so needless to say we were excited when this guy arrived here.

Much like its namesake, this Dunnett Classic Titanium exudes power; it is articulate, dry, and projects mid frequencies incredibly well with minimal overtones. On the lower side of the tuning range, it has big, round body with plenty of attack and a dark tone. The 8 lug configuration provides the perfect amount of tension and body without constricting the tuning possibilities.

A 20-year recipe, the Dunnett is one of the first to walk down the road of Titanium, and remains one of the most respected builders in the world utilizing this type of rare material. This 2008 snare, 20 years into their Titanium skill-honing process, you will find construction refinement commiserate with some of the finest builds in their production history.

The Dunnett tube lugs have a solid feel with a throwback charm, and the Dunnett script-style badge is reminiscent of vintage drums. Beowulf has met with an untimely accident and is missing one D on a badge which now reads "unnett"(see photos). This tiny character flaw does not affect the playability of this drum but is noted. Also of note, this drum has been drilled for the Hypervent, but it is missing the knurled knob to close the vent.

The Dunnett titanium shell has long been one of the most sought-after drums within the Dunnett catalog for nearly two decades. Many have tried to replicate the sound, but none have truly accomplished the tone of the true original. Experience the difference yourself.
