Sound Pure's Take

Dangerous is a company based on the idea of pure, transparent audio. You can hear that quality in all of their pieces, from their processors to their summing units and monitor controllers. And when it comes to the Source, to put it simply, you will be incredibly hard pressed to find another D/A and monitor controller under $1k that tops the detail, transparency and connectivity of the Dangerous Source.

Like any controller worth it’s salt, the Source features a plethora of both input and output options for connecting your interface, multiple monitors, and even an iPod or other disc player via an ⅛” jack. A combo AES/SPDIF combo jack input provides the option to connect your existing interface with digital outputs in order to upgrade the quality of your monitoring D/A and hear more detail in what you’re recording and mixing. Since I do a lot of home recording in one hybrid mixing and control room, I personally enjoyed the two headphone amps conveniently located on the front panel so myself and the artist I’m recording can have easy access to headphone monitoring and level control.

The quality of your monitoring chain is something we at Sound Pure view as one of the most important yet overlooked elements of building a quality recording system, as recording and mixing when you can’t hear every detail in your audio is like painting with scratched, tinted glasses! With it’s very fair price for the incredible quality and multiple connectivity options, Dangerous has provided the answer to removing those hazy hurdles in your monitoring chain.

From Dangerous Music

The Portable Monitor Controller without Audio Compromise.

The Dangerous Source provides the critical link between your ears and the music. Every tracking and mixing decision hinges upon what you hear: how to locate the microphone’s sweet spot for the perfect vocal, where to place the panning to define each instrument’s space, creating the perfect marriage of kick and bass in the track…

Plug in two pairs of headphones and get inspired with a Dangerous caliber headphone amp.
Select any of the four sources individually or at the same time- plug your iPod into AN2 and jam along in AN1.

Listen to any combination of sources from either section.  For example, let the singer hear their own personal headphone mix from the AN2 input, while you engineer the real mix, coming from the USB input.

There’s even a line level control room output, mirroring the speaker selector for dubbing, sampling or running external meters.

Switch between two sets of speakers... or use one output for a subwoofer... or play them both at once to blow up the neighborhood.

Built for life on the road, slide the Source into your backpack and hit the streets.
