Anchor's Caravel series is an affordable option into the world of custom drums. The heart of this drum features a 7 ply maple shell. It has a very natural and resonant sound that really packs a punch when hit hard. The sleak strainer, the double-sided lugs, and flanged hoops married together give this drum high end features and sound. The depth of the shell makes it easy to bring the tuning down and get a nice thud type of sound, but tuned it up high the sound has lots of attack and full bodied tone with warmth.
If you are looking for a beautiful looking and sounding snare drum with the versatility to work in the studio and the clarity and projection to cut live then this Anchor Snare is an option you should definitely take a look at.
The Caravel series was born out of the idea to have a super vintage styled kit and also to hit a lower price point for all drummers. Still using top notch die cast lugs and hardware to create a a road ready kit that looks as good as it sounds.
