This is a really spectacular snare. With an 8-ply maple shell, this drum is finished with a visually attractive outer ply of zebrawood with rosewood striped veneers. The bearing edges are as smooth as they can possibly be and are given with a 45° cut with a small sharp counter-cut to focus the drum and raise the level of sensitivity. This thin maple shell snare sounds great as a ballad snare tuned down, but equally, the sharp bearing edge and solid construction means there’s no fear in cranking it right up. In the higher tuning registry, the Pork Pie excels with sensitivity and snap.
