What We Think

One of the best Taylor 12's I have put my hands on! I am Taylor factory certified, and have owned and played many Taylors, but never have I played one of their 12-strings that sounded this alive. This one will punch you if you aren't careful! The 800 series is Bob's trademark line of guitars, and this one does not disappoint.

This guitar is in immaculate condition, and has no sign of scratches, dings, or wear.

Manufacturer's Description from Taylor

A premium instrument with a Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and Taylor Expression System electronics.

Taylor's second offering in Indian rosewood, the 800 Series traces its roots to the earliest Taylors. Bob’s latest design changes speak of traditional lutherie in the form of hand-set, figured maple binding. It’s a gorgeous upgrade that complements the beautiful hues of rosewood and sparkling inlay work. For many, the 800 Series is a true Taylor icon. The 856ce Rosewood/Spruce Grand Symphony 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar is truly a sound to behold. Its rich, bellowing tone rings out with balance and complexity.

Indian Rosewood/Sitka
Indian rosewood seems as if it was created to be on a guitar. The clarity, balance, sustain, excellent bass response, and wonderful coloration and figure are without equal. Paired with Sitka spruce, it is an unstoppable combination.

Grand Symphony (GS)
Though you might see similarities to a Grand Auditorium, the GS is unique in both sound and shape. Significant changes in its geometry yield a deeper, more piano-like bass. A wider lower bout and higher, wider waist return ample volume and low-end sustain, in symphony with fuller mids and balanced highs.

Expression System®
Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System® amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound. It’s your tone. Amplified.

Gloss Top, Back & Sides
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Renowned for blending modern, innovative manufacturing techniques with a master craftsman's attention to detail, Taylor guitars are widely considered among the best-sounding and easiest to play in the world. The company was a pioneer in the use of computer mills, lasers and other high-tech tools and proprietary machinery, and today, Bob Taylor is widely recognized throughout the musical instrument industry as the visionary acoustic guitar manufacturer. Among the company’s many innovations are its patented Taylor Neck, the first major innovation in the construction of the acoustic guitar in the last 100 years; the award-winning Expression System® 2 (ES2) pickup, a groundbreaking approach to amplifying an acoustic guitar; and the T5, the first, true hybrid acoustic and electric guitar that can produce amplified acoustic tones, full-crunch electric, and everything in-between with the flip of a five-way switch.

In addition to its forward-thinking approach to guitar design and manufacturing, Taylor has applied that same approach to its wood sourcing and environmental sustainability initiatives. Taylor is dedicated to the pursuit of best practices in forest management, new models of reforestation, and bringing ethically harvested tonewoods to market. This approach, together with outstanding playability, flawless craftsmanship, and stunning aesthetics, are just a few of the reasons that many of today’s leading musicians make Taylor their guitar of choice. The company’s artist roster numbers in the thousands, and includes the likes of Taylor Swift, Jason Mraz, Zac Brown, and many other established musicians.
