Manufacturer's Description from Spectra

You've Heard it before. Spectra preamplifier modules have been used to record countless hit records across the decades, and helped to define the sound of American music from Memphis Soul, to Rock and Roll. Un-changed, and still un-matched, the Spectra sound is now available in a no compromise 500 series format.

Design

The STX 100 represents an affordable alternative for employing the same Spectra Sonics technology of our famous recoring desks made over 40 years ago. The unique circuit topology of the STX 100 utilizes a 100 series discrete preamplifier design that was at the heart of every console built by the company. The result is unequaled performance in terms of expanded dynamic range (headroom), low noise and distortion, as well as extended harmonic content of the amplified signal. The STX 100 is a high-quality product manufactured in the US by Spectra 1964 at our Ogden facility. (Over 95% of the sourced components within all Spectra1964 originate from the US or European suppliers.)

About Manufacturer

Spectra Sonics was founded by William G. Dilley, and was originally located in Ogden UT. The Spectra Sonics Legacy was aquired by a partnership of two former employees in 2007. The company was relocated from Ogden to Layton, UT. The same manufacturing techniques which were implimented by Spectra Sonics under its original ownership are still used today. All Spectra Sonics equipment is hand-tested and hand-soldered by a small team of specialists. All Spectra Sonics equipment undergoes rigorous hands on testing before leaving the factory. Much of the test equipment used was hand built in the original factory over 40 years ago.
