This is pure and simple a beautiful and excellent instrument all around! Before I even plugged it in it felt resonant and full of tone, all the while playing so very smoothly in every aspect. Single note lines and chords both come with ease on its comfy neck, and it's short scale makes for easy bending as well! The soap bars do their job well with a spanky growl that will knock you out and leave you only wanting more. I really enjoyed some light gain running through this one to rake out some old school rock rhythm tones, and it's leads were nice and sweet in any position. The playability and tone of this guitar were both obviously held to a high standard, and it shows in spades. Check this one out if you are looking for a great vintage vibe that pays homage to a guitar building legend!  

Ted McCarty was a pioneer of the electric guitar and musical instrument industry. In the late 1980’s, Paul Reed Smith called on Ted to consult with him on guitar design and production techniques. He not only served as Paul’s mentor but became a great friend of Paul and everyone he met at PRS. In 1994, PRS released the first McCarty, an instrument that incorporated the full spectrum of techniques and knowledge Paul had gained from Ted as well as his own experiences as a guitar builder.  It is in honor of Ted McCarty – his knowledge, his friendship, and his memory.
