Phoenix Audio DRS-EQ 500 Series on Resonator Guitar and Electric Guitar

Originally designed to replicate the strengths of inductor EQs, the Phoenix Audio DRS-EQ is an incredibly musical 4 band EQ with tremendous versatility. The DRS-EQ's smooth EQ curves combined with the venerable Phoenix Class A Output transformer make the DRS-EQ a perfect tool for bus work, tone shaping individual tracks, or for simply providing a pleasing layer of analog saturation to liven up a sterile in-the-box mix. In this video we used the DRS-EQ on a darker Resonator and electric guitar track to add some top-end clarity, cut some low-mid tubbiness, and provide some pleasing harmonic saturation for a more exciting and mix ready sound. Be sure and request the hi-res audio files by emailing us at proaudio@soundpure.com to hear all the subtle nuances of this fantastic equalizer. If you'd like to demo the Phoenix DRS-EQ in your studio with your gear give the Sound Pure Pro Audio team a call at 919-682-5552 for more information. Additionally if you have any questions about the DRS-EQ or other EQs and recording gear don't hesitate to shoot us an email or give us a ring at anytime. Manufacturer's Description from Phoenix

The Phoenix Audio DRS-EQ/500 is a mono 4 band EQ for the API 500 series, it was designed to be identical in terms of features and sonics as the other Phoenix products in our range, and the EQ circuit is found in the DRSQ4M mk2 but in a new exciting format. The Gyrator EQ circuit was designed around 40 years ago and was originally designed to emulate the characteristics of a coil or inductor EQ circuit without the issues that they can cause, the result is that our EQ circuit found in the DRSQ4M mk2 is a very powerful but musical EQ perfect for sculpting or crafting vocals, drums or instruments etc whilst still being able to be used on mix bus duties.

The unit runs at 24v thanks due to the special power supply built into the unit so it offers no sonic sacrifices whilst still maintaining a very low current use needed for the API format and is well within its API VPR limits and has been approved by API.

Phoenix Audio

About Manufacturer

Phoenix Audio was founded in 1996 by Shaun Leveque to provide a British service for owners of pre-1980 Neve recording consoles. Their technicians, metal-workers, and design engineers are original ex-Neve workers, so they have the inside scoop, and they operate from a fully-equipped, modern, independent workshop. They design and build products, wired in-house by professional wiremen and engineers with many years experience that take great pride in the quality of their craftsmanship. Phoenix Audio products are unique and original and carefully designed to combine the advantages of years of audio experience with current manufacturing technology and components. Sound Pure has been very impressed by all of the new products and technologies they continue to release.
