What We Think

Meinl Cajons are quickly becoming the go-to instrument for low-volume gigs. Like many of Meinl's cajons, it has a resonating Rubber Wood body and a soundhole positioned at the rear of the instrument. The frontplate combined with the Rubber Wood resonating body come together to develop a deep, resonating bass tone. This string Cajon features four internal metal guitar strings that come together into two adjustable points to deliver a snare effect when striking the frontplate. Cajons are ideal for softer acoustic gigs when a full drum kit cannot be used. Its portability, as well as its musicality, make it easy for musicians to pick up and play without hassle. Included with this Cajon is a small wrench for string adjustments.

Manufacturer's Description from Meinl Percussion

The Meinl Headliner Series Cajons deliver the classic cajon sound at an affordable price and can be used in Flamenco or World Music. They are also very useful during unplugged gigs for delivering the rhythmic foundation for a whole band when a full drum set can’t be used.

A musician can use this singular lightweight box drum to create as many sounds as a full drum set, and by adjusting the top corners you can further expand sound options.

The full range of sounds that the Cajon can create are produced by adjusting not only the top corners that affect the timbre and crash, but by changing tension put onto wires inside the box drum. The nylon guitar strings located against the frontplate control the amount of sizzle heard during a performance. The cajon player can even disable the sizzle completely.

Complete with anti-slipping seating surface, Allen wrench for adjustments, and matte finish, the Meinl Headliner Series Cajon is an easily transported distinctive instrument for all percussionists.
