The legendary Marshall JTM45 has been imitated and re-invented countless times since its inception in the early 1960s. Its characteristic tone and rich harmonic content have been enjoyed on so many records that most people living in the western world are probably familiar with its sound--whether they know it or not. This reissue amplifier aims to capture the essence of the JTM45, and with PCB design and some modern building techniques they set out to provide customers with a great amp at a great price.
At 45 watts and no master volume, you have quite a bit of clean headroom. The cleans are warm and focused, and with EL84s instead of the original KT66 power tubes you get beautifully clear tone with a little more high-end sparkle. The breakup almost resembles a Tweed Fender as much as the standard Marshall tone, which is appropriate as the JTM45 was originally based on the Bassman amp. This rich harmonic distortion is perfect for blues and rock, and can respond with a growl or singing sustain, depending on the technique of the player. All around, this reissue is a great sounding amp, and its priced at an absolute steal compared to anything considered vintage.
The amp that started it all!
The Marshall JTM45 Amp Head is a lovingly created reproduction of Jim Marshall's first amplifier. Now the classic JTM45 is accessible to all who enjoy its glassy, clean tone and fluid, warm sustain.
By including GZ34 valve rectification, as found in the original, Marshall has ensured a faithful recreation of the JTM45's glorious sound. The GZ34 rectifier valve interacts with the rest of the valves causing subtle harmonics to shift and smolder beneath every note you play.
