Gretsch's Hammered Black Steel Snare Drum with Wood Hoops gives you some new sound options depending on how you tune and play it. The core of the sound is based on a 1.2mm steel shell with large hammering impressions to to give the drum attack and focus. Rock Maple Wood hoops are added to provide a slower yet wider attack, with more open and darker tones then most steel drums offer. Additionally, these hoops offer a deeper cross-stick tone then any steel hoop provides.

A unique take on our Hammered Steel Series- we’ve added Satin Black 13-ply Rock Maple hoops to this drum to give you a slightly different take on rim shots and cross sticks. The wood hoops also temper some of the inherent overtones to this drum, giving you a balanced blend of warmth, and projection.
