What We Think

WOW, it's not often I get to play a slope shoulder Dreadnought from Goodall but I don't want to put this Traditional Dread down! If you need a big sound with clarity and some serious power then you should consider this awesome dreadnought in your collection. At first glance you might not believe it's Mahogany with all of the brilliant figure that is shown and with AAA grade tonewoods you'll have a sound that others will drool over. This guitar isn't a one trick pony and it really would blow away most players with its' sound/setup whether you're looking to rip some flatpicking runs or lay down a solid rhythm for your band. If you're not currently familiar with Goodall I'd definitely recommend checking this one out, it's a killer guitar.

12-Fret Dreadnought Comparison: Collings DS2HA vs. Goodall Traditional

In this video, Sound Pure acoustic guitar specialist Barrett Brooks compares two 12-fret dreadnoughts: the Collings DS2HA Natural Acoustic Guitar #17280 and the Goodall Traditional Spruce/Mahogany Dreadnought #6657.

Manufacturer's Description from Goodall

The Traditional Dreadnought, a flatpicker's delight!

The Traditional model features the popular dreadnought body shape. Its tone is extremely powerful in the bass and midrange with an emphasis on a broad warmth without lacking treble. The Traditional model features a custom, partial scalloped bracing pattern which produces a bit more 'boominess' in the bass and midrange. The peghead and bridge have been redesigned for a more conservative look and Waverly tuning machines are a standard feature. It is nicely trimmed with a herringbone rosette and herringbone top purfling with a chevron marquetry backstrip. It is especially built for the flatpicker and bluegrass style players.
