Sound Pure's Take
Weight: 8.15 lbs.
The Anderson Bobcat is one of the best solid-body, single-cutaway guitars on the market, and within a few seconds of playing one, you’ll know why! Those who have always been drawn to this infamous style of guitar know to expect a slinky feel and aggressive tone, but this beautiful Anderson does what you’d expect while also having somewhat of an alter ego when you get into splitting the humbuckers. To first address the playability, this guitar is definitely one of the easiest playing and most comfortable instruments we get in the shop, and this serial # was playing so effortlessly that you really can forget about playing and focus on what you want to say rather than how to say it. The pickups on this Lemon Drop Bobcat are paired wonderfully, and you won’t notice a huge drop when switching from neck to bridge. Both the HC1 and HC2 have an added clarity that you often won't ever hear on vintage humbuckers, but when pushing the volume closer to 10 they definitely have that warmth that you’re looking for and complement each other very well. Finally, we must mention that this Lemon Drop finish looks amazing in person. It's like a cool glass of lemonade on a hot day…refreshing and worth sharing with others! If you’re thirsty give us a call!
From Tom Anderson Guitarworks
Bobcat is a purebred Anderson through and through. So, no need to fret (be concerned), as every outrageous Anderson attribute is soundly intact and at your command, like:
Smooth as butter playability, just effortless to play and bend
Unbelievably resonant, rings seemingly forever, even unplugged. One chord and you will know
Unique 3-on-a-side headstock with nearly straight string pull renders unparalleled tuning ease and stability while offering a much stronger neck to headstock union
Encircling the entire back circumference of the body is a smooth, soft-cut radius for next to body comfort
Hand selected, kiln dried mahogany means an overall weight of under 8 pounds, which is really light for this style instrument. Just so nice to strap on and play all night
Deeper cut-away horn that is shortened, rounded and splays further outward grants easier access to the highest regions of the fretboard and balances Bobcat’s center of gravity nicely when sitting to play
Countersunk bridge, tailpiece and pickup rings look so, so, so cool and make picking hand angle extremely comfortable
8 hum-free sounds from a simple as can be 3-way and two push/pull tone pots
Lightweight Tune-o-matic style bridge is standard and wonderful to play, but so is the optional Vintage Tremolo-style bridge.
Tradition comes to an immediate and happy end once you give this artful Anderson instrument more than a mere momentary glance. In all seriousness, once you hear how resonant and feel how easily Bobcat plays you are going to utterly lose your mind!
