The Earthworks 1021, 1022, and 1024 Zero Distortion Preamps are completely free of noise and distortion, and are really a lot like "wire and gain." Such transparency, accuracy and detail in a mic preamp are extremely useful when the sound of the instrument coupled with an amazing microphone should not be compromised. The Earthworks preamp will not add its own coloration and artifacts like just about every other preamp on the market. It is designed to delver the sound coming out of the microphone exactly that way, as if there is no preamp in the signal path whatsoever. In this video we demonstrate this performance through a variety of microphones and sources including recording acoustic guitar, piano, jazz archtop guitar, and electric guitars. Description:

Earthworks ZDT preamps are like wire with gain. Their frequency response is flat and wideband, +/- 0.1dB from 2Hz to 100kHz. The 1dB down points are below .5Hz and beyond 500kHz. Across the 'audio band' the ZDT preamp is effectively perfect. The total of all forms of distortion is so low as to be unmeasurable by normal equipment: under 1ppm (0.0001%) for the stepped gain output and under 0.001% for the variable output. Earthworks ZDT preamps are the quietest mic pre's currently available on the market. This is particularly evident when high gain is used such as for classical music. Earthworks preamps are also perfect for ribbon mics, especially considering its high input impedance of 100 kOhms.
