The new Earthworks SR40 Cardioid Microphones record dazzling Acoustic Guitars in the recording studio, and then in an untreated space in this great video demo. In this video we utilize a variety of preamps including Earthworks own 1024 Mic Preamp, the Sebatron 4000e VU, and then the Vintech X73i (in the untreated space). The near perfect cardioid pattern provides some off-axis control of reflections in both the studio and the untreated Sound Pure Guitar showroom, but is completely flat and neutral in each quadrant of its near-perfect cardioid pattern, meaning that the off axis sounds and reflections picked up by the microphone remain as neutral, flat and beautiful, yielding a truly detailed and accurate overall picture. Call us today to discuss this dazzling new microphone from Earthworks, or any of their other amazing equipment, toll free at 888-528-9703.

Another stunning beauty from McPherson Acoustic Guitars, this time shot in the untreated Guitar Showroom at Sound Pure Guitar Boutique. It was recorded meticulously with Earthworks SR40 Microphones and Vintech X73i Mic Pres. This McPherson features an Engelmann Spruce top with Flamed Walnut back and sides. Engelmann Spruce is light in color with rich, complex tone. This wood best suits a more gentle touch. Great for fingerpicking with warm bass and complex overtones. Flamed Claro Walnut has a strong fundamental, with warmth and balance. Walnut has less depth and projection than rosewood and slightly darker tone than Mahogany. The Depth is 4" at block and 3.5" at tail block with a Scale Length of 25". It has a Standard McPherson Neck Width of 1 3/4" at nut, 2 5/32" at 12th. This guitar and the rest of the McPherson line is available from Sound Pure Guitar Boutique.

The Sebatron VMP-series Tube microphone preamps are used to track acoustic guitars in a recording studio with a variety of microphones including Earthworks, Mojave, and Telefunken Microphones. While we use the Sebatron VMP4000e preamp, it utilized the identical tube pre circuitry as in the 2000e and 2000e VU mic preamps. Each preamp's impressive warmth is attainable without a loss in detail typical of most preamps. Additionally the preamp features some excellent EQ functionality, and the creative ability to drive the unit in different ways to move from transparent more subtle tube coloration to much greater saturation and color (by engaging the pad circuit which exists prior to the tube gain stage). We use and love the Sebatron mic preamps in the Sound Pure recording studios, and are glad to talk to you about all of our experiences. The Earthworks 1021, 1022, and 1024 Zero Distortion Preamps are completely free of noise and distortion, and are really a lot like "wire and gain." Such transparency, accuracy and detail in a mic preamp are extremely useful when the sound of the instrument coupled with an amazing microphone should not be compromised. The Earthworks preamp will not add its own coloration and artifacts like just about every other preamp on the market. It is designed to delver the sound coming out of the microphone exactly that way, as if there is no preamp in the signal path whatsoever. In this video we demonstrate this performance through a variety of microphones and sources including recording acoustic guitar, piano, jazz archtop guitar, and electric guitars. Give us a call to discuss this amazing distortion-free preamp, toll free 888.528.9703.

Earthworks cardioid microphones are unlike all the rest, as they have patented near-perfect cardioid patterns. The sound across the entire front hemisphere is remarkably uniform and is flatter at 90 degrees than most microphones are on-axis. This results in uncolored off-axis rejection for recording and greater gain before feedback for live sound. They effortlessly handle up to 145dB SPL while simultaneously revealing subtle details that other microphones mask. All SR models are a superb value and will provide excellent results for both live performance and recording applications.
