A Quick Q&A with Nick

When did you first start playing music?

Not counting toy guitars, pots and pans, and badly singing the alphabet I started on piano and saxophone when I was ten… ish. I think.

Bands or projects now or in the past?

Starting in high school I made a number of bands with my friends and a sequencer. In college, I gigged with this group or that. Spent some time in the Leon Marian band, Big Al and the Sophisticats? I think. There were a number of bands in Florida named Big Al and the Something Or Other. Had a jazz quintet for a couple of years. I was part of the backing band for the Rusty Bucket Kids

What’s on your wishlist?

Working for Hans Zimmer. Wait, too basic. Working for Austin Wintory.

What’s a quirky or fun fact about you?

I own at least three, and possibly four, Hillary Duff albums. Attempts to shame me on this will not be successful.

Top Musical Influences?

When I’m in composer mode it’s John Williams, Joe Hisaishi, and Austin Wintory. When I’m in songwriter mode it’s more like Stevie Wonder or Paul McCartney.

Anything about your household, family, or pets you’d like to share about yourself?

My wife needs the beach on a regular basis or she reverts to a marble statue.

What’s your least favorite thing to practice?

Manners.
