Manufacturer's Description from Miktek

The C7 is a three-pattern FET condenser with a large-diaphragm capsule. The mic was designed with input from AMI, and uses AMI’s T7 output transformer.

The capsule is built in China to Miktek’s specifications. It is a member of the K67 family. This variation is most similar to Neumann’s K87, in that the two backplates are electrically isolated from one another (and therefore the two sides of the capsule require four output wires rather than three).

The diaphragms measure 25mm in diameter, and are made of 5-micron Mylar, metallized with gold.

The C7 has a unique feature in that the user can select the capsule polarization voltage.

At +48 volts, the capsule’s diaphragm is under less tension, so it is able to react to extremely subtle changes in sound pressure; enabling the microphone to capture the slightest nuances in any performance. When the bias voltage is set to +60 volts, the C7 is extremely accurate and articulate.

The 60V setting has alternatively been described as a more “modern” sound.

The C7 ships with a wooden storage case for the mic, a swivel mount, and an elastic shockmount, in an aluminum flightcase.
