What We Think

This amp has been a go-to amp for my personal desired tone when trying out a new guitar at the shop. The EL34 tubes provide plenty of full tone and are a perfect compliment to both American and British pre-amp channels. I prefer to use the American channel for clean tone and sometime with a little grit in the tone. The British side is my rhythm and/or lead channel for nicely saturated drive with a strong mid-range.

The large size cab aids to a spacious and full quality that you can't get out of smaller 1x12 combo amps. Single coil guitars scream through the high gain input and humbucking equiped guitars growl with the low gain input. Focus, Presence and Reverb are onboard and are great tone shaping controls for both channels.

What it comes down to is that the Fandango is the well-rounded/do anything combo amp. You'll be hard-pressed to find a style of music that doesn't shine while plugged into this 55 watt powehouse! OH, and I can't forget to mention the half power switch on the rear panel! really great way to get vintage and modern tones by choosing your wattage setting. There is way more to this amp (and most Rivera amps) than there is time to type. SoundPure hopes you will contact us if you have any questions about this amp

Manufacturer's Description from Rivera

Rivera introduces a new series of Combo amps, the Fandango. With lead tones Approaching the new Knucklehead Reverb, and rhythm and blues tones that Rivera is legendary for, here is the gorgeous looks and tone in a compact package that is easy to transport. Extra deep cabinetry gives you the warm bottom end and the well balanced dynamics of the standard Celestion G12T-75. Couple this with the thick tone of the EL-34s, results in a harmonious blend of just plain outrageously great sound. The newest in our line of handcrafted all tube amplifiers.

55 Watts of vibrant power with (2) EL-34 Output Tubes standard, and a fat and bad-ass tone when pushed. Five 12AX7 Tube Preamp with 2 distinctly different sounding channels with their own independent and discrete 3 band EQ. Tones ranging from the tweed of tweeds, to as brown or blackface as you like it. Channel 1, our lead channel, has a new feature called "Scoop". It is a push-pull switch located on the middle control, that selects between the classic "Plexi" EQ midrange, and the newer modern modified amp sounds. Footswitchable boosts on each channel, 6 Spring "Hammond Long Pan" reverb, and a special Focus and Presence control for speaker damping and final high frequency EQ round out the tone. On the Focus control, is a push-pull switch "Pull Warm" feature. This activates a circuit that works to enrich the even harmonics of the output stage. A Vintage/Modern switch on the rear panel allows the power to be cut in half and sweeten the even harmonics as well. This will help in achieving a classic AC-30 tone. A serial effects loop with level controls in provided to patch you into most any external effects device. A 3 Function (FS-7) Footswitch is included.

The Cabinet is built of hardwood plywood, and finished in either a black Tolex with matching Di-Tone black and silver grille cloth with a black Tolex band on the top of the grille, or blonde Tolex with vintage blonde grille cloth and matching blonde Tolex band on the grille top. A comfortable padded leatherette strap handle, rugged chrome corners, and heavy duty rubber feet make easy daily transport. "Plexi" front panels are available in either silver nomenclature on a black background with black knobs and white numbers, or brown and champagne beige "Plexi" front panel with brown knobs hand-painted with champagne beige numbering.

About Manufacturer

In August of 1976, Paul Rivera founded Rivera R&D in Southern California to provide for musicians and the music industry leading-edge design, development, and manufacturing of products based on the philosophy that you, our client, are the center of our attention. It has been our driving force, from our early work in the 1970s with the who's who of the studio world, to our consulting work for many of the leading amplifier manufacturers, to today's extensive line of professional products that we proudly hand-build in the USA. Rivera is a privately owned company. We do not have to answer to shareholders. We answer only to you. Thankfully, in these times when other makers have taken their production offshore, closed, or allowed their products to deteriorate in quality and tone, we have prospered. This again is because of you, our loyal clients. Our continuing dedication to using only the finest of components in robust designs stands the test of time. Purchasing one of our amplifiers is a long-term investment in quality. You will still be enjoying your Rivera product long after our competitors' products are no longer serviceable and have been discarded. Only Rivera builds an all-tube stereo combo amp, the S120 series. Only Rivera builds an all-tube acoustic guitar amp, the Sedona. Only Rivera had the foresight and innovation to launch our powered subwoofer systems over six years ago. Every product in our line is dedicated to serving players and is designed to meet their needs. Years ago Rivera R&D was famous for complete effects racks and systems for bands and solo artists like Toto, Van Halen, Lee Ritenour, and many others. We are proud to launch our new Routmeister effects switcher, distilled from our years of signal-processing experience. This one product solves the frustration that many players have faced for years in organizing and controlling their stage systems. As we have grown, we have expanded our capacity to manufacture absolute top-quality amplifiers. We are now unleashing our new entry-level Pubster and Clubster series of amplifiers, compact beauties that sport all the quality of our more expensive models, with enough features and stunning tone to please the pickiest of players. For those of you purchasing a Rivera for the first time, welcome to our family. For those of you already in the family, hello again, and we are happy to be of service to you once more.
