Oasis guitar humidifier in useYou probably already know that your instrument can crack in dry weather. Repairing a cracked top of a fine guitar is both expensive and can alter the sound of your instrument. To solve this problem, guitarists have been using "sound hole" humidifiers since the 1960's. These humidifiers do have a number of drawbacks. The first is that you cannot see when they need to be refilled. When you do refill them, they can be overfilled and drip inside your expensive instrument. This is because all currently available "sound hole" humidifiers have openings to allow for water evaporation. The job of protecting the instrument against leaks is left to an absorbent medium such as a sponge or floral foam, which can be over saturated with water.

Oasisý has solved these problems by using a completely different approach. The body of Oasisý is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasisý shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasisý shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the water tight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigelý, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside Oasisý, are your second line of defense. Humigelý captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.

Like other "sound hole" humidifiers, Oasisý fits between the strings of your instrument. The materials that touch your strings are relatively soft and will not scratch your strings. A blue polyurethane stabilizing bar fits over the neck of the humidifier. Once positioned in the sound hole, the stabilizing bar lies across the guitar strings to ensure even weight distribution. Oasisý never touches the body of your instrument.

About Manufacturer

My name is Dave Hepple, and I am the inventor of the Oasis Guitar Humidifier. Since the age of 13, I have played either a nylon stringed classical or flat top steel stringed guitar. For the past 14 years I have been an active volunteer with the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society, serving as President from 1999 to 2003 and now as treasurer. For eight years I booked the organization?s concert series. As a result, I met a number of outstanding guitarists and learned a great deal about very high quality guitars.

I also became familiar with the problems of guitars cracking due to very low humidity during the winter. Many guitarists use ?in the sound hole? style humidifiers to fight the problem of dry air. I acquired several humidifiers of this type but found them difficult to use.

There were a few key features that I felt were essential for this type of humidifier. First, it should have the ability to last a minimum of several weeks between refills. Second, the user should be able to see when the humidifier needs to be refilled. Third, installation and removal should be easy to accomplish in a short period of time. Finally, I concluded that using soft materials for the humidifier would reduce the chance of scratching the strings or denting the guitar surface in case the guitar was dropped accidentally. You will find all of these capabilities in the Oasis? Guitar Humidifier.

Hand-crafted in America, Oasis? is the best solution to the challenge of guitar humidification. Whether you play a flat top steel string or a nylon string classical guitar, you have made a significant investment in a quality instrument. It is far less expensive to have an effective, easy to use guitar humidifier than it is to repair a cracked guitar. Give Oasis? a try, and you will see how well it works!
