The Charter Oak E700 Microphone performs beautifully on both also and baritone saxophone on these demonstration videos. The E700 possesses the warmth, and richness you expect from a large diaphragm microphones, but also has a good amount of detail that you would expect from a small diaphragm microphones. The microphone does an excellent job at capturing the full musicality of the instrument as well as the resonance and natural acoustic reverb of the rooms. We tracked with great results both in our very live untreated lobby (an alto sax), as well as within the control of the Sound Pure Studios A tracking room (a baritone saxophone). Be sure and check out the other videos we've made with this amaing microphones including piano, kick drum, guitars (both acoustic and electric), and vocals. It doesn't seem to disappoint no matter where you put it!

The CharterOak e700 has proven to be a new favorite here at Sound Pure Recording Studios as a general workhorse studio microphone, but it blew us away recently when we tried it on kick drum. It's impressive low end and expressive ability to capture warmth, body, and resonance stole the show on piano, but really impressed us here on kick drum- for that up front, edgy rock kick drum sound, we are liking it even better than the world-renowned kick drum favorite, the Neumann U47 FET for many sounds. This is largely attributable to its huge 1.2" diaphragm, which is a unique capsule, and one you wouldn't first think to try on something like a kick. This is a dry, unprocessed recording through one of our cleanest preamp, a Millennia HV-3R, but it still sounds polished and near finished, even though there is absolutely no EQ or compression on the recording- you wouldn't believe how it can sound once we start to produce the finished kick drum sound. Give it a listen, and let us know what you think. Our recording experts are always here to answer your questions, toll free, anytime, at 888-528-9703.

A Simple stereo pair of Charter Oak Acoustics e700 microphones are used to record a Steinway B 7-foot Grand Piano inside Sound Pure recording studios. They utilize a spaced pair of these incredible microphones into a Millennia HV-3R Mic Preamp, feeding a Lynx Aurora Converter- totally clean, unprocessed signal. The microphone features a particularly large diaphragm capsule and meticulously crafted signal path yielding remarkable musicality, detail, transient information on many applications from Grand Piano, and even kick drum. It is also extremely well priced among the boutique offerings on the market. The CharterOak SA538 and SA538B are compared in this demonstration of these two Charter Oak 538 Large diaphragm tube condenser microphones on Alto Saxophone and Baritone Sax. As a tube microphone, they possess some of that rich vintage-style warmth, but at the same time as a modern tube microphone, they also have a great deal of detail, open-sound, and air, which make them great not only for vocals, but also a fabulous instrument microphone. You get warmth, but also resonance, harmonics, and detail in a very musical and polished sound. See if you prefer the sound of the 538 or 538B, and be sure and check out our other video comparing these fabulous two microphones on vocals.
