What We Think

Condition: Used, Excellent

Starting off with a classic singlecut approach, the master luthiers at B&G bring forth something entirely new based on something classically perfect. With it's slimmed down body shape, fine craftsmanship, and high-quality tonewoods, the Step Sister gives you all that sought after sonic glory of Mahogany and Maple in a more ergonomic, easier to play, and pretty to look at package!

Manufacturer's Description from Other

The Step Sister is the mean girl in the family. She shares the same genes as the Little Sister in terms of design, she is built using the traditional techniques of the Golden Era of electric lutherie, and as with the Little Sister, you can individually pick your favorite maple top from the wood stock, and then select the best-looking finish. But then the unique personality of the Step Sister comes out. The body shape is shortened, to join the neck at the 16th fret, and the fingerboard extends to 22 frets. The neck heel has been reshaped, for the easiest access up to the last fret. A nimble, agile, sleek machine.

Developed for ease of playability, the Step Sister offers a wide range of options. She is available with the chambered body, or with a solid mahogany body (selected to weigh just as much as the chambered version).

The solid body version gains attack and presence and cuts through the mix like no other. The headstock is available either solid or slotted, it's your choice.

Because of the extended length of the fingerboard, the neck pickup is placed slightly closer to the bridge than on a Little Sister. Therefore it delivers a brighter and more defined tone by itself, and a beautiful ‘hollow' quality when paired with the bridge pickup. The pickup choice ranges from the P90s to the hum-canceling Kikbuckers, to the Humbuckers, unpotted by default and lightly-potted on demand.

The Step Sister is also enriched with the exclusive nickel-plated brass hardware, or optionally with the standard lacquered brass.

The sleek Step Sister can sound silky sweet, or scream as a fast and powerful rock machine - just like that mean girl....
