Pork Pie may lack size in comparison to other manufacturers, but they make up for with daring designs that are both ear-grabbing and eye-catching. This drum set is finished with a B20 Sparkle wrap. A new finish exclusive to Pork Pie that is made from real bits of cymbals. Another first, this set also features maple hoops with matching wrapped inlays. The toms have thin maple shells without reinforcing rings, steel hoops, chrome hourglass lugs, and gold badges that nicely compliment the finish. Each is fitted with coated Ambassador single-ply heads on the top and clear Ambassador heads on the bottom, and has a suspension mounting system. They needed no muffling, unless you prefer a shorter decay with enhanced attack. The bass drum includes a clear Powerstoke 3 and Black Powerstroke 3 logo head that compliments the drum well. Plenty of attack out of the drum plus a low-mid fundamental pitch that if miked would perfectly suit any rock song. Tuned low, this drum sounds much larger than it is. It can get a little boomy in the low-end with no port, so you may want to port the front head when you receive it. The bearing edges are as smooth as they can possibly be and are blessed with a 45-degree cut with a small sharp counter-cut to focus the drum and raise the level of sensitivity.
