We are happy to have acquired some really cool new effects pedals from our friend Rich Flickinger at Flickinger Tone Boxes. Rich is a musician local to us here in the Triangle and has a very cool approach. So far, he’s released the Angry Sparrow Fuzz, Rude Bomb Boost, and Vicious Cricket Tremolo. Each pedal does it’s job in a way that addresses the shortcomings of many pedals out there on the market.

The Angry Sparrow Fuzz is a fuzz pedal with fantastic low-end clarity, plenty of gain, plenty of EQ sweep, and lots of juicy harmonic thickness. It works fantastically at low-gain settings as well, so you can get some really old-school sounds. If you really want to fuzz out, there’s so much gain and headroom it’s silly. The red LED is the Sparrow’s eye, so it really looks pretty mean when you turn it on.

The Rude Bomb Boost is a fantastically fat-sounding boost pedal. This thing is really your tube amp’s best friend. It’s not tinny or too bright and has really good natural-sounding low end. It took all of 3 seconds to hear how good this pedal is. You might never want to turn it off…

The Vicious Cricket arrived today and what can we say? It’s pretty f’n vicious. The most unique aspect of this pedal is the way it “ducks” the tremolo effect when you hit a hard transient. You can strum power chords and still hear all of your pick attack. The trem effect comes in right after the attack. I’ve never seen a trem pedal that does this! It’s a very simple pedal that’s very different from the mainstream trem pedals out there today.

We’ll soon be shooting some great demo vids for all three of these units and will be sure to update the product pages with those clips. Stay tuned…
