Tyler Studio Elite Jimburst Electric Guitar, from James Tyler

The Tyler Studio Elite is a pereniall shop favorite when it comes to super-strats. This guitar is lightweight and supremely resonant, as we have come to expect from anything in a Tyler case. The lead/rhythm circuit puts all of your favorite settings at a flick of a switch, and the addition of the midboost preamp lets you fill up your high-gain tone with beautiful harmonic saturation. Tyler necks are exceptionally smooth, and the fretwork on this piece is superb. If you are reading about this then you probably know a little something about what Tylers have to offer--but unless you have plugged one in for yourself, you may never know just how good a strat-style guitar can look, sound, and feel. The Studio Elites are in a league of their own!

Even with the "fat" neck profile this guitar plays super fast! This guitar has serious acoustic resonance. To me, that's where the magic lies in the Studio Elite models. First available in 1987, the Studio Elite embodied the essence of the L.A. studio scene. It has the contoured and cutaway neck heel/body area with a deeper cutaway on the treble side for easier access to the upper frets. With the SSH pickup configuration, Lead/Rhythm circuit and midboost preamp, it was one of the first "Boutique Superstrats."

The Studio Elite has been refined and improved over 20 years and is one of the most versatile guitars available. Available in either pickguard version or back-routed controls version.
