TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik M80 Microphone Chrome  From TELEFUNKEN

Dynamic M80 Stage Mic that puts the Chrome to yer Dome!

TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik

Manufacturer's Description from TELEFUNKEN

As the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik M80 grew in popularity and demand, so did requests for custom finishes from our Custom Shop. The first custom finish developed was the M80 Chrome. This came about when ZZ Top requested that their M80s be customized in chrome plating. When we saw the result, we knew we had to make more.

With requests from the likes of Cee Lo Green and Snoop Dogg(Lion!) for M80 Chrome microphones of their own, we knew we had the first in the series of Custom Shop M80s.

Featuring a wider frequency response and higher-than-normal SPL capabilities, the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik M80 delivers condenser-like performance in a rugged dynamic design, producing a microphone equally suitable for voice, instruments or drums on both stage and in the studio.

Due to its low mass capsule and super thin (yet surprisingly rugged) capsule membrane, the M80 presents a wider range of emotion from a live vocal with an intimacy that has been traditionally reserved for studio quality condenser microphones.

The head and capsule assembly has been designed to reduce proximity effect to which adds low end clarity for vocals, while still providing strength, authority, and an "open, airy" character without adding danger of upper midrange feedback or "honk."

The M80 also features a custom wound impedance matching transformer, which is where the magic really takes place. When coupled with our proprietary capsule assembly, the results have won hearts and minds in far less time since its introduction than we ever imagined possible.

The M80 system comes packaged with a mic clip and leather-carrying bag for quick and safe transport from gig to gig.

TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik

About Manufacturer

TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik of South Windsor, CT has been following the tradition of excellence and innovation set forth by the original TELEFUNKEN GmbH of Germany that began over 100 years ago.

TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik's origins began in 2000 when owner Toni Fishman acquired the rights to the name and diamond logo for use in North America. The company began with the reverse engineering of a single microphone part: the ELA M 251 polar pattern selector. Mr. Fishman purchased an original Telefunken ELA M 251 for use in his recording studio, but when he received it he discovered that the polar pattern switch was no longer functional. Realizing that this was a common issue with the original units, the idea to recreate it was born.

The switch was reverse engineered and brought into production for other 251 owners with the same issue. With one part down, the goals were set high to successfully reverse engineer the entire microphone exactly as it was originally manufactured. The next two years were spent developing each and every part of the microphone right down to every detail. Numerous original documents and drafts from TELEFUNKEN and AKG were acquired, and coupled with thorough reverse engineering the ELA M 251 was brought back to life with meticulous accuracy.

As TELEFUNKEN moves forward, one foot is rooted in the rich history of the brand, and the other in new microphone innovations. TELEFUNKEN has evolved exponentially from a single pattern switch to one of the industry leaders in top quality microphones.
