What we think:

This is an absolutely staggering guitar. We had Eric Skye in this past summer for Richard Hoover's workshop, and based on the intricacy of his playing I was very eager to see how Richard went about crafting a flat-top that could handle that kind of complexity and nuance...

The departmental consensus is that this guitar can handle anything.
This is the guitar player's guitar player's guitar player's guitar.

What you've got is a dense piece of Adirondack that's still bursting with overtones

A dense, beautiful cut of cocobolo that offers lushness, warmth, and a hint of natural reverb

A 12-fret configuration for smoothness and roundness of tone

And a 24.9 inch scale for easy playing.

If you demand a lot out of your instrument. If you believe nothing is technically impossible on your instrument. If you've got specific sounds in your head that require a very sophisticated mechanism of expression.

The 00~Skye will not disappoint. It will inspire you to try things on an acoustic guitar you never thought you could achieve. With a 00~Skye, you will succeed.

As with almost all Santa Cruz guitars, this 00-Skye model hold a vocal-like mid-range quality to it's tone. I've never heard anything like it! It's an absolute pleasure to cruise around the fingerboard on this signature model. If you've ever seen or heard Eric Skye, you know what this instrument is capable of! It's scary good!

Description:

Portland based jazz guitarist Eric Skye was named by 20th Century Guitar Magazine as “one of the best rising stars of the American acoustic jazz scene.” This hardworking instrumentalist has gained a loyal following both as a dramatic and expressive live performer and an in-demand acoustic guitar instructor both in Oregon and in the online music community. He has been featured in magazines such as Acoustic Guitar, Guitar Player, Jazziz and Jazz Improv, and his music can be heard on NPR. To match his distinct personality and playing style, Eric and Richard collectively dreamed up a gorgeous Cocobolo OO with an Adirondack top, unique 24.9 inch scale length for ease of playability, slightly deeper body for added bass and volume,  hot hide glue with Adirondack Spruce, scalloped bracing and a distinctive herringbone purfling and ivoroid rosette. This instrument is designed for the excruciatingly accurate and sophisticated techniques of the most demanding jazz fingerstylist.
