What We Think
One of the joys of working with boutique builders is that we can find special and one of kind instruments. This amazingly musical snare from Pork Pie is a prime example - it's the only one in the world.
The tone of the jarrah shell is very balanced, and simply wonderful. It’s a little lower in pitch than a similarly sized maple, but just so smooth, organic and rich. The finish is a beautiful natural gloss. The hardware is all chrome, very solid, and smooth. Rim shots are wonderfully tight and cutting. With a unique diamond inlay and jarrah shell, the snare is complemented with an exquisite Queensland Walnut outer veneer. This is a very rare one of a kind piece.

With its jarrah shell, this Jarrah Snare from Pork Pie provides a unique crack appreciated by the most seasoned drummers. Great for recording, the jarrah shell provides subtle warmth, medium attack and plenty of body. This snare is fitted with heavy-duty 2.3mm hoops, Pork Pie hourglass lugs and high-quality snare wire. Remo heads and a high-gloss finish make this snare too good to keep in the studio.
About Manufacturer
In 1987, Bill Detamore started making drums as a hobby. He sold one, made two more, and so on. This evolved into some of the finest handmade drums available today. To take snare drums one step further, he introduced solid (one piece), exotic wood stave and plate brass designs. Pork Pie has also introduced their Little Squealer and Hip Pig series of drums to round out the line.
Over the years, Pork Pie has become the place where a drummer can hot rod an existing kit with new bearing edges, refinishing, or design the kit of their dreams.
