Another stunning beauty from McPherson Acoustic Guitars, this time shot in the untreated Guitar Showroom at Sound Pure Guitar Boutique. It was recorded meticulously with Earthworks SR40 Microphones and Vintech X73i Mic Pres. This McPherson features an Engelmann Spruce top with Flamed Walnut back and sides. Engelmann Spruce is light in color with rich, complex tone. This wood best suits a more gentle touch. Great for fingerpicking with warm bass and complex overtones. Flamed Claro Walnut has a strong fundamental, with warmth and balance. Walnut has less depth and projection than rosewood and slightly darker tone than Mahogany. The Depth is 4" at block and 3.5" at tail block with a Scale Length of 25". It has a Standard McPherson Neck Width of 1 3/4" at nut, 2 5/32" at 12th. This guitar and the rest of the McPherson line is available from Sound Pure Guitar Boutique.

The new Earthworks SR40 Cardioid Microphones record dazzling Acoustic Guitars in the recording studio, and then in an untreated space in this great video demo. In this video we utilize a variety of preamps including Earthworks own 1024 Mic Preamp, the Sebatron 4000e VU, and then the Vintech X73i (in the untreated space). The near perfect cardioid pattern provides some off-axis control of reflections in both the studio and the untreated Sound Pure Guitar showroom, but is completely flat and neutral in each quadrant of its near-perfect cardioid pattern, meaning that the off axis sounds and reflections picked up by the microphone remain as neutral, flat and beautiful, yielding a truly detailed and accurate overall picture. We are really impressed with this 3.5 from McPherson. The body size itself allows the guitar to react a little bit quicker than the deeper versions without sacrificing much volume at all. The Engelmann top provides a ton of warmth and complexity. Combine that with the mellowness of Walnut on the back and sides and you've got a wonderful guitar. The setup and feel is absolutely perfect as it is on all of the McPherson guitars. This guitar is great for fingerstyle or flatpicking as demonstrated in our video. Don't hesitate to call us if you have any questions about any of our McPherson guitar inventory.
