For the small size of this guitar, the integrity of the volume was not compromised! The wood grain on the back, sides and peghead is beautiful and I love the reddish hue on the neck wood. It's such a fun guitar to play! It sounds great, its super playable, the size is just easy to work with. I love the balanced sweet full tone. This just became my favorite guitar we have in stock.
The Parlor, a small guitar with big sound!
In response to our customers desire for a smaller instrument with the voice of a larger guitar, James Goodall has introduced two new elegant designs which comprise the Parlor series. The reception of the Parlor series at the 1999 Summer Nashville NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show was phenomenal.
Everyone was amazed at the fullness and richness of tone as well as their punchy clarity.
Some even thought they were as loud as a Dreadnought bodied guitar.
The Parlor series guitar has a shorter 25" scale length. It has a scaled down bridge, peghead and sound hole. It is available in a 12 or 14 fret neck joint with a non slotted peghead or an optional 12 fret neck joint with slotted peghead* and bronze patina Waverly tuners. The 12 fret model has a sweet, round and responsive voice similiar in tone to a classical guitar. The 14 fret model has a little more punch and clarity in the mid range, very similiar to our Grand Concert series instrument. The Parlor series is available with all the same fine options and wood choices as in all Goodall guitars.
*The slotted peghead model has a neck width at the nut of 1 7/8"
(1 13/16" is optional).
The Aloha, a no compromise entry level Goodall!
Goodall Guitars has reintroduced the Aloha model because of popular demand. It now features a beautiful wood on the fretboard and bridge called pheasant wood - an extremely hard and dense Hawaiian wood that is dark red brown in color with black streaks.
"a touch of Hawaii"
It comes in either koa or mahogany back and sides with a Sitka spruce top, pearl rosette and peghead logo, black fiber binding (NOT plastic) and chrome Gotoh machines. No compromises, just great looks, tone, and playability as always found in a Goodall guitar.
James Goodall represents an artisan who is at the pinnacle of his profession. Superb craftsmanship, an exacting finesse for detail and wood choice, combined with robust, three dimensional sound character -- these are qualities which embody every James Goodall guitar.
Few who endeavor in musical instrument making are capable of consistently maintaining a high level of precision and excellence along with superior tonal character in every instrument. Discerning eyes and ears will find the substance of all these qualities in every James Goodall instrument.
