What we think:

This guitar is the flagship of the Eastman 16" and 17" archtop series and it sounds just like a great handmade archtop should--warm, full, and punchy. This Maple body has some gorgeous flame figure and it produces a colorful wash of overtones that blends perfectly with the woody sound of the Spruce top. The combination of these two timbres creates a lush, smooth tone that has a very lyrical, almost vocal-like quality. If you are in search of the full-bodied 17" archtop sound (complete with all of the warmth and character of solid AAA tonewoods) for thousands less than most custom shop archtops, this AR905CE is it!
