The Sebatron VMP-series Tube microphone preamps are used to track acoustic guitars in a recording studio with a variety of microphones including Earthworks, Mojave, and Telefunken Microphones. While we use the Sebatron VMP4000e preamp, it utilized the identical tube pre circuitry as in the 2000e and 2000e VU mic preamps. Each preamp's impressive warmth is attainable without a loss in detail typical of most preamps. Additionally the preamp features some excellent EQ functionality, and the creative ability to drive the unit in different ways to move from transparent more subtle tube coloration to much greater saturation and color (by engaging the pad circuit which exists prior to the tube gain stage). We use and love the Sebatron mic preamps in the Sound Pure recording studios, and are glad to talk to you about all of our experiences. We can be reached toll free 888.528.9703, or international 919.682.5552.

Description:

The Earthworks QTC40 provides flat, extended frequency response, superb impulse response, very high sensitivity and that great Earthworks sound with very low self noise. It is an extraordinarily accurate microphone, typically within +-dB from 20Hz to 20kHz. More importantly, the QTC40's impulse is the cleanest we have measured. We believe the impulse information embedded within the tones of music is the detail needed to capture the experience of being there. Clean impulse response allows the QTC40 to transduce waveforms exactly, so the QTC40 will provide a true and accurate representation of sonic events as they happened in the air creating the experience of being there.

The QTC40 is a wonderful microphone for ambient miking and and is also superb for close miking any acoustical source. It will capture the full size and natural texture of many difficult and complex sources. The QTC40 is perfect for everything, percussion, piano, guitar, bass, strings, vocals, brass, woodwinds, and location recording of classical, jazz, ethnic, folk and pop music. It is also useful for foley, adr, sound effects, sampling and even the subsonic mating calls of elephants. The QTC40 mp is your best choice for all applications where natural, uncolored sound is the desired result.

If you prefer transparent to discolored this is the microphone of your dreams.
