The D1A from Collings Guitars is a classic 18 style dreadnought acoustic guitar. It features an Adirondack Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. This is very loud, present guitar. Keeping up with the banjo won't be a problem with this guitar. This wood combination is a favorite for blue grass players, but it is versatile enough to excel in fingerstyle, jazz, and blues playing. This guitar has wonderful dynamics and warmth with just the right amount of sparkle. The workmanship is excellent, like all of Collings guitars. The D1A from Collings is one of their most popular models. When you pick it up for the first time, you certainly realize why. Chords and lines explode off of this instrument! It's got one mission, to be heard "loud and proud"! This is the perfect bluegrass machine. There's a great balance between the bark of the midrange and the boom of the low end. The harder you strum, the louder it gets. This is attributed to the Adirondack top which has seemingly limitless headroom. The mahogany back and sides add a bit of extra sparkle, dynamics, and low end warmth. Come try the Collings D1A today. You won't be disappointed. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this guitar or anything else in our fine inventory.
The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the first to build them, we bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference.
