The Collings CJ, with Mahogany back and sides and a Sitka Spruce top, is an impeccable dreadnought guitar - perfect for strumming and finger-styles. This quintessential slope-shoulder dread has a punchy bottom end with a nice dry tone overall. The CJ has a much less "forward" sound and more open mid-range despite its similarity to a square shoulder dreadnought. This guitar is perfect for the recording studio due to its open, dry tone, and is also a favorite of singer-songwriters. If you have any questions about the Collings CJ or any other custom guitars in our shop, give us a call now at Sound Pure.

This guitar was traded in for a new Collings! Once you play a Collings, it's hard to get away from 'em! They are that good!
There is one very small nick on the back of this guitar that is seriously hard to find. Other than that it is perfect. The upgrade inlays on the neck and headstock really set this beauty apart. As with all Collings acoustics, the tonal range is well-balanced.

The Collings Jumbo, or CJ, is our version of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought, a shape that has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years. While the CJ is similar in width and depth to the traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different tone. Despite its large size this model works well with the optional shorter string scale, resulting in a somewhat percussive bottom end ideal for acoustic blues or other styles that benefit from a more controlled bass response. Of all the Collings body shapes, this is the one most often requested with a sunburst top finish, and the wide range of wood options, neck widths, and string scales allow the CJ to be many different guitars to a wide variety of players.
