The Charter Oak m900t is a vintage-style small-diaphragm tube pencil microphone that has a warm, thick midrange, and very tame and subdued top end. However, as a small diaphragm mic, this Charter Oak microphone is an excellent choice where you want to retain detail in a non-harsh way. Even when put through our clean preamp, the Millennia HV3, there was no real harshness that you'd typically expect from a small diaphragm mic. It possesses a warm vintage tonailty, but doesn't lack on detail, which makes it an interesting and great choice here for electric guitars. It is particularly impressive in the way that it can capture clean tones, and loads of reverb detail, but at the same time, doesn't suffer when the amp gets dialed up to some more aggressive distorted electric guitar tones. It's a real workhorse, as it performs wonderfully well on lots of applications from finger-style acoustic guitar, to drum overheads, grand piano, and even here on electric guitars. If you'd like to discuss the microphone, please don't hesitate to give one of our recording experts here a call anytime, toll free at 888.528.9703, or international, +1 919.682.5552.

Charter Oak microphones are used in this simple drum recording setup, including the m900t small diaphragm tube pencil mics as overheads, m900 with a solid state hyper cardioid capsule on snare, and the E700 dual diaphragm solid state condenser on kick drum. This simple setup allows you to hear the the clarity of each microphone. Each microphone is going through the Millennia HV-3R preamp and contains no EQ, compression, or reverb. The m900t's shine as overhead mics. They are very detailed, picking up a full bottom range with a smooth top end. The m900 mic with a hyper cap handles the ringy snare very well, remaining tight, isolated, and accurate. The E700 is a fantastic large diaphragm mic that handles the low end impressively. Check out our E700 kick drum video for more detailed information on this mic. If you have questions call us today at Sound Pure, and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The Charter Oak M900t Tube Condenser Microphones record wonderfully sonorous Steinway B Grand Piano with rich warm vintage-style tones. The microphones possess a characteristically thick midrange with a lot of warmth and depth and at the same time have a great ability to tame harsh top end making them a fabulous choice on things like drum overheads and twangy acoustic guitars. But, as a small diaphragm microphone it is also able to capture transient information, harmonics, and detail. It is really a nice choice where you'd like detail, vintage coloration, and a tamed and subdued top end. Call us at Sound Pure toll free 888-528-9703 to discuss this fantastic line of microphones.

The CharterOak m900t is quite an impressive tube pencil microphone. The m900t's frequency spectrum is incredible, providing a full bottom end, a detailed mid range, and a smooth high end that eliminates the harsh qualities found in other tube pencil mics. We found the m900t to shine on drum overheads and acoustic guitar, yielding a tone full of harmonic information yet still crisp and defined.
