Charter Oak microphones are used in this simple drum recording setup, including the m900t small diaphragm tube pencil mics as overheads, m900 with a solid state hyper cardioid capsule on snare, and the E700 dual diaphragm solid state condenser on kick drum. This simple setup allows you to hear the the clarity of each microphone. Each microphone is going through the Millennia HV-3R preamp and contains no EQ, compression, or reverb. The m900t's shine as overhead mics. They are very detailed, picking up a full bottom range with a smooth top end. The m900 mic with a hyper cap handles the ringy snare very well, remaining tight, isolated, and accurate. The E700 is a fantastic large diaphragm mic that handles the low end impressively. Check out our E700 kick drum video for more detailed information on this mic. If you have questions call us today at Sound Pure, and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

The S600 is a unique tube mic from CharterOak that works magnificently as a pair of drum overheads. The S600s are large diaphragm tube mics that have an almost ribbon-like frequency response curve - giving it a dark, colorful sound without the problems associated with ribbon mics. It has a cardioid directional pattern and handles high SPLs very well, making it a great choice for drum overheads. In this demo, we listen to the pair of S600s along with a CharterOak E700 large diaphragm mic on the kick and a CharterOak M900 with a solid state hyper-cardioid capsule on the snare. This video demonstrates a simple four mic drum setup, with samples of no EQ, Compression, Reverb, etc. as well as samples with a touch of processing. Watch our other CharterOak drum video with the M900t's as overhead mics. If you are interested in the S600s or any other microphones, call us today at Sound Pure and we would love to help. 888.528.9703.

The D1 from Collings Guitars, a square-shouldered dreadnought acoustic guitar with a Select Sitka Spruce top and Honduran Mahogany back and sides, is an extremely popular steel string guitar body shape. Although this guitar is fantastic for vocal accompaniment, certain versions are also great for bluegrass flatpickers as well. Collings brings a lot of tonal warmth and clarity to this model guitar. The new M900 Small Condenser is due to release in October, where it will be officially unveiled at the San Francisco AES Show. Pre-Sales can be arranged through an authorized CharterOak dealer or by calling CharterOak direct.
The CharterOak M900 is the only small diaphragm condenser microphone in the CharterOak line of high quality microphones for recording and broadcast.
After an extended period of development, CharterOak has met the challenge of creating a small diaphragm condenser with a reasonably flat frequency response, and the robust and musical sound for which all CharterOak microphones are known.
The M900 achieves all of these goals and more, as it features a two-step sensitivity switch (-10dB and -20dB) and a two position bass roll off at 150Hz (3dB per octave) and at 75 Hz (6dB per octave). Furthermore, each M900 head amplifier is shipped with our S-5 (cardioid), S-6 (hyper-cardioid), and S-7 (omni directional) capsules, all of which enhance the functionality and versatility of the microphone.
The M900 exhibits the same simplicity of design, rigid build quality and robust sound that is present in all CharterOak microphones and the M900 is backed with a lifetime guarantee and CharterOak's unequaled customer service, making it a welcome addition to any microphone collection.
The microphones are delivered with a lifetime warranty on all parts and labor and easy access to factory technical support.
