Another stellar addition to the Bourgeois line of Acoustic Guitars, this version of the popular Slope D Acoustic is fitted with a short scale and Adirondack top.  Despite it's shorter scale, this iteration of the Slope D from Bourgeois Guitars, still provides that clarity you have come to expect from note to note from Bourgeois, but with a little added warmth and sweetness in tone that short scale guitars provide. Very much in the same way that a vintage short-scale provides a relaxed playability, this Slope D Acoustic from Bourgeois makes it easy on the player, but never compromises the power and versatility of this Adirondack and Mahogany fitted Acoustic. With the ability to give the warmth of the Mahogany and the short scale, but with the punch that players love from previous versions of the Slope D, this latest Acoustic from Bourgeois is truly a spectacular instrument! Thanks to Eddie Berman for his playing on this video. If you have any questions about this great guitar from Bourgeois or any other gear used in the video, please call SoundPure today, 919-682-5552!   Gear Used: Bourgeois Slope D Adirondack Short Scale Acoustic Guitar, Neumann KM184 Mics, Great River MP2NV Preamp, Lynx Aurora A/D Converter

Travis Hall of the Sound Pure Pro Audio Team briefly discusses the more general physical and sonic characteristics of Small Diaphragm and Large Diaphragm Condenser microphones. For this comparison we brought back our Miktek C5 SDC and C7 LDC microphones for comparison on two different acoustic guitars. Being a Small Diaphragm Condenser with a faster, smaller capsule, the C5 showcases incredible transient detail, string articulation, and an overall tighter low-end. With it's larger capsule size, the C7 Large Diaphragm Condenser showcases a little more warmth and roundness (particularly in the low-end) and smoothed out some of the transient detail from the strings. While every mic has it's own unique voice and response, these broader characteristics and differences can be found in all Large and Small Diaphragm Condenser microphones. If you're having difficulty hearing the differences feel free to email us at mics[at]soundpure.com for the full length hi-res audio files to compare for yourself. Both the Miktek C5 and C7 mics are available for Sound Pure's free try-before-you-buy demo program. If you'd like to set up a trial period to hear one of these incredible mics for yourself, would like to talk more about SDCs vs LDCs, or just microphones in general, feel free to shoot us an email or give us a call at anytime. Thanks for watching!

What we think:

This is one sweet, confidant guitar! Not only does the short scale make things a little easier for the player, it also gives it the gusto needed to make it a killer strummer. It's got clarity and focus without compromising the mahogany's natural warmth. A great cut of Addy, this one can sing or scream beautifully depending on how you attack it. The burst suits the top grain like a tailored suit and there's just something about those tiger guards that melts my heart.

Description:

In 2007 we introduced a Short 25" scale version of our popular 25.5" scale Slope D.  With all the warm, sweet, full tone and relaxed playability you'd expect from a vintage short scale instrument but with the balance and note to note clarity found on all Bourgeois guitars.

Standard materials include an adirondack spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and ebony fretboard, headstock and bridge, trimmed everywhere (body, fretboard, headstock and rosette) with ivoroid binding. To complement the theme, our original Bourgeois snakehead-style peghead is graced with ivoroid-buttoned Waverly tuners.

Beginning in 2012, the Slope D comes standard with a natural top and our sunburst, famously sprayed by Dana Bourgeois himself,  is available as a custom option. We treat our sunbursts like just another piece of wood--no two are exactly the same, and that's the way we like it. Sometimes we are influenced by the colors and textures of the top or back; sometimes we want to de-emphasize a distracting feature in an otherwise outrageous top; sometimes we're after a vintage vibe. Sometimes we're just going for a cool burst!
